In 1976, Honda launched its first sports car - the Honda Civic CVCC. This model featured an innovative engine that allowed Honda to meet the strict emissions standards in the US and enter the American market. In the late 1970s, the Honda Accord became the best-selling car in the US.
In 1983, the Honda Prelude sports coupe appeared, aimed at young and active buyers. That same year, Honda opened its first US plant in Ohio. By the late 1980s, Honda had become one of the world's largest car manufacturers.
In the 1990s, Honda continued to actively develop and launch new car models. Among the most significant models of that period are the Honda NSX sports car and the Honda Odyssey minivan. In 1997, production of the popular CR-V SUV began.
In the 2000s, Honda focused on the development of hybrid and electric vehicles. In 1999, the first Honda Insight hybrid appeared. In 2006, Honda Civic Hybrid went into production, and in 2011 the fully electric Honda Fit EV.
Today, Honda produces a wide range of passenger and commercial vehicles, motorcycles, power equipment and robotics. The Honda brand is still associated with high quality, reliability and innovative technologies. The company continues to develop advanced solutions for the future of electric and autonomous transportation.
