Official date of occurrence of company Maybach it is considered to be
1907 when young designer Wilhelm Maybach made the decision to leave concern
"Daimler-motoren Gezelshaft" in which it worked before, and in common
with the friend Ferdinand fon Zeppelin to create own enterprise. However
actually the history of success of a legendary brand begins much earlier - with
a birth of its founder of Wilhelm Maybach. The ingenious engineer and the
talented inventor, it devoted all life to development to branch. Its inventions and now, after many years,
do not lose the urgency and still are a quality and reliability symbol.
Wilhelm Maybach early remained the orphan. After death of parents it at
ten years' age gets to a shelter where gets acquainted with the director of a
nearby mechanical workshop - Gotlib Daimler. Considering in the boy love to
designing, that sends it for study in university where young Wilhelm receives
the diploma of the engineer. In 1876 Maybach becomes the chief designer of firm
Deutz for which develops projects of agricultural stock, scales and motor
vehicles.
In the end of 19 centuries Wilhelm Maybach invents a two-cylinder
internal combustion engine on which basis in 1901 develops the first car, prototype of the best car in the world. A bit
later, in 1907 Maybach unites with the companion Ferdinand fon Zeppelin and
organises own firm specialising on manufacture of engines for dirigible
balloons.
Only in 1909 Wilhelm in common with the son Charles dare to create own
company which they name Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH. However then, in the world
captured by a flame of the First World War, about a batch production of cars
could not be and speeches, therefore the father and the son postpone the
automobile workings out for some time and come back to creation of engines for
dirigible balloons. After the end of war the country leaders impose a ban for
release of any military technology which dirigible balloons concerned also,
therefore to Maybach do not remain anything else how again to return to
automobile subjects. In those of year on light there is a first child
Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH, - the car having under a cowl the 6-cylinder engine in
volume in 5738 sm3. It has been exhausted in the single copy which was got
later by the Dutch firm Spyker.
In spite of the fact that its "first-born" did not receive
wide recognition in a circle of motorists, Wilhelm decided not to stop on
reached, continuing to move persistently in the planned direction. He decided
to improve the previous model taking into account all requirements which were
at that point in time shown to a modern car. New Maybach W3 became the first
serial car in Germany, possessing brakes on all wheels.
Since 1929 the company starts to specialise on release of cars with 12
cylinder motors, allowing to develop speed absolutely shaking on that time -
160 km/h. Among them Maybach-Zeppelin became the most popular. Same year
Wilhelm Maybach unexpectedly falls ill and shortly dies. Its place is occupied
with son Charles who continues business of the father. Somewhere in the middle
of 1930 under the direction of Maybach younger there is the new model Zeppelin
having design absolutely distinct from senior "brother". However, in
the given series of identical cars was not, as each of them was carried out
strictly under individual requirements of the customer.
With 1921 on 1941 it is possible to name the period an epoch of
blossoming of company Maybach. In this time from its conveyor descended more
than 1880 cars from which from 5 to 10 models were annually created specially
for exhibitions. With the beginning of the Second World War the company trained
for a new profession on release of internal combustion engines for the tanks
most known of which were Maybach HL120TRM and HL230TRM. The first such engine
has been established on tank PzKpfw III. During post-war time Charles who has
appeared in French to a captivity, some time has been compelled to develop
internal combustion engines for planes. In 1950 it returns home, where is
accepted to revival of family business. First of all, Maybach decides to leave
"for frameworks" automotive industry and starts to exhaust the engine
for railway and ship transport.
In 1960 company Maybach controlling interest passes to Daimler-Benz
therefore concern Daimler-Benz Maybach is created. The similar name management
Daimler decided to pay a tribute of respect to the best automobile designer
Wilhelm Majbah.
Definitively
legendary brand revived only in 1997 when company Daimler Crysler presented on
autoshow the new concept car under Mercedes-Benz Maybach name, the best car of the world, united in itself
all modern achievements in the field of automotive industry: an aesthetics,
convenience in steering and comfortableness.
In 2002 the revived company exhausts at once two new models: Maybach 57
and Maybach 62 (figures designate length of the car). Of course, in one line
with these handsome men it is possible to put only Bentley and Rolls-Royce to
which Maybach at all does not concede on luxury and exclusive.
Now Maybach are made not only in Germany, but also in the USA. To order
the car it is possible only in the specialised centres located worldwide.
